airport chic: dress up or dress down?
i am about to embark on yet another flight, and the question burns ever bright in my mind: to dress up or to dress down? pivotal, i know. let’s face it, flights aren’t comfortable no matter what you’re wearing, but the point could be argued either way. wearing sweats could mitigate the discomfort somewhat at the expense of looking chic upon arrival. downside: you’re wearing sweatpants in public. or, in ashley greene’s case, a velour sweatsuit (a personal enemy of mine. the sweatsuit, not ashley greene.)
alternatively, dressing up for your flight ensures that you arrive in style, ready to go as soon as you land. in victoria beckham’s case, complete with leather gloves, just in case. security must be a bear, and forget running to your connection, those shoes demand at least an hour layover, but you look amazing. like i said, tradeoffs.
personally, i continue to opt for the middle ground. not frumpy, not dressed to kill, but still maintaining a baseline chic, a la gisele bundchen. i may have to change before i can go out, but this route ensures that i avoid velour and/or sweatpants at all costs (thank god), and my feet still have some sort of feeling in them upon arrival.
decisions decisions, my dear internationalistas. which route do you take?
xx

I travel a lot for my job. My go to outfit granted I’m not stepping off the plane and to a meeting is a silky tunic, scarf, leggings and some sort of flats (usually loafers or peep toe).
Have a safe trip!
couldn’t agree more. the tunic/leggings combo can be soooo chic!
